How Crucial is an On-Site Lab for Gold Processing in Nigeria?

Last week, a customer from Nigeria visited our factory to discuss a gold CIP processing plant.

We had previously communicated with the customer by phone and even met in Nigeria for preliminary discussions. The customer’s gold mine is located in Kwara, a region well-known for its gold resources and good gold content.

This time, he traveled to China to meet with our technicians and discuss details about the gold plant. During our conversation, we learned that the customer’s mine is still under investigation. They have hired geologists to conduct a survey of the site. We advised the customer to confirm the location and quality of the gold vein before considering separation equipment. Since they are currently surveying and drilling, we also recommended building a laboratory, as many samples will need to be tested for gold content. The customer agreed that having a lab would be beneficial.

Many people focus solely on the main processing machines when building a mineral processing plant and overlook the importance of a laboratory. However, in gold production, a lab plays a crucial role. During surveys, many ore samples must be tested. Throughout the extraction process, it is also necessary to test raw ore, gold-loaded carbon, tailings pulp, and other materials.

We showed the customer our machines and shared case studies from previous gold projects. Next, we will dispatch our technicians to the mine site to test the ore.
