Dasen Mining Visits Jos for Tin and Tantalum-Niobium Projects
Dasen Mining’s engineering team visited Jos, Nigeria, to meet clients and inspect alluvial deposits containing tin, tantalum-niobium minerals and monazite.
Having supplied processing plants in the region, we continue to work with local clients on equipment selection and plant planning. For these projects, the main questions are practical: how much clay the feed contains, the size of the valuable mineral particles, and which minerals the plant needs to recover.
Selecting Equipment for Alluvial Tin Processing
An alluvial tin processing plant needs a flowsheet suited to the ore. A clay-rich feed may need more scrubbing, while a deposit with fine mineral particles requires particular attention to sizing and gravity separation.
Depending on the test results, the processing route may include:
- Screening: Remove oversize material, roots and other debris.
- Scrubbing and washing: Use a rotary scrubber or log washer where needed to break up clay and clean the feed.
- Gravity separation: Select jig concentrators, spiral chutes and shaking tables according to particle size and the separation required.
- Concentrate preparation: Dewater and dry the gravity concentrate before dry magnetic separation.
- Magnetic separation: Assess two-roll or three-disc high-intensity separators for further separation of the mineral concentrate.
- Concentrate collection and bagging: Collect the separated products for testing and appropriate handling.
This is a reference route, not a fixed design for every deposit in Jos. The equipment combination and final products need to be confirmed through mineralogical analysis and processing tests, particularly where tin, tantalum-niobium minerals and monazite occur together.
From Ore Sampling to Plant Installation
Dasen provides support for both individual equipment purchases and complete mineral processing plants. Depending on the project scope, our work includes:
- Site sampling, mineralogical analysis and processing tests;
- Process design, mass balances and process flow diagrams;
- Equipment supply, shipping and customs support;
- On-site installation and commissioning;
- Operator training, after-sales service and spare parts.
Testing comes before final equipment selection. It helps establish which separation stages are needed and gives the client a clearer basis for reviewing the proposed plant.
Equipment and Local Support in Nigeria
Our Nigeria office and warehouse provide a local contact for equipment enquiries and after-sales support.
We stock selected processing equipment in Nigeria, including jigs, spiral chutes and magnetic separators. Available models and quantities vary, so clients should confirm stock and delivery arrangements with our local team before placing an order.
For a complete plant, the schedule also depends on the agreed equipment list, site preparation, water and power supplies, and installation requirements.
Discuss Your Tin or Tantalum-Niobium Project
If you are planning an alluvial tin or tantalum-niobium processing plant in Nigeria, send us:
- The project location;
- Your planned feed capacity in tonnes per hour;
- Available assay reports or previous test results;
- Photos or videos of the ore;
- Details of the site’s water and power supplies.
If testing has not yet been carried out, we can discuss sampling and testwork first. These details help our engineers assess the project and prepare a suitable equipment proposal.
