Gbekpata granite pegmatite-type lithium ore mining in Nigeria: an investigation

lithium ore mining is found in granite pegmatite deposits. The type of ore is albite granite pegmatite. Spodumene, followed by lepidolite, is the most useful component. The strike of the ore body is preliminarily speculated to be NNW. It is speculated that the exposed length of the surface of the ore body is about 800m and the width is about 200m. It is layered and quasi layered. The thickness of the ore body is unknown. From the pit situation, the exposed thickness of the ore body has been more than 3m. The ore body’s Li2O grade is reported to be about 3%. The lack of any previous geological work makes it impossible to determine the spatial distribution of the specific ore body. Further exposure and geological work are needed to assess the possibility of parallel ore bodies in the deep.

For determining the spatial occurrence of the ore body in detail, geological mapping, trenching, drilling (combined RC and DD) and other engineering means are used, and trenching spacing is controlled at 40 * 40m, drilling spacing at 80 * 80m. Gradually densifying to 40 according to the ore occurrence, × 40m, supplemented by other geological logging and other means, establish a three-dimensional model to estimate resource reserves and provide resource guarantee for further development.
