Solid minerals processing in Bauchi of Nigeria
Solid Mineral Processing in Bauchi, Nigeria
The following photos were taken at an ore site in Bauchi, Nigeria. The ore from this site contains a high amount of silica. To extract more valuable metals, it is important to reduce the silica content first.
Step 1: Silica Removal
A shaking table is commonly used to remove silica from the ore. This method can eliminate up to 90% of the silica. While it is technically possible to remove 100%, complete removal is not always recommended — some zircon may be mixed with the silica, and removing all of it could result in loss of valuable minerals.
Step 2: Magnetic Separation
After silica removal:
Dry the processed material
Use a single roller magnetic separator to extract iron, ilmenite, and other magnetic minerals
Note: Ilmenite can often be sold directly as a product.
Feed the remaining non-magnetic material into a three-disc electromagnetic separator
This process helps recover tantalum (TaNb), zircon, monazite, tin, and other valuable rare earth elements
Suggested Processing Flow for Similar Ore in Nigeria
If your ore is similar to what is found in Bauchi, a simple and cost-effective processing flow would be:
2 sets of shaking tables (for silica removal)
1 single roller magnetic separator (for iron and ilmenite)
1 three-disc electromagnetic separator (for recovering TaNb, zircon, monazite, tin, etc.)
