Mobile Alluvial Gold Washing Plant in Zambia
Dasen Mining designed a mobile alluvial gold washing plant solution for a placer gold project in Zambia. The raw material at this site is alluvial gold ore containing free gold particles and fine gold-bearing heavy minerals.
For this type of deposit, the key objective is not only to wash and screen the ore efficiently, but also to recover both visible gold particles and fine free gold as early as possible. Based on the ore condition and the customer’s recovery requirements, Dasen proposed a gravity separation process combining a trommel washing screen, gold sluice, centrifugal concentrator, and shaking table.
Alluvial Gold Washing and Screening Process
The first stage of the plant is ore washing and screening. The raw alluvial material is fed into a trommel screen, where water sprays help break up loose soil, remove mud, and separate oversized stones from the gold-bearing material.
After washing, the undersize slurry flows to the gold recovery section. A trommel screen is suitable for relatively loose alluvial ore with manageable clay content. If the ore contains high levels of sticky clay, a rotary scrubber or trommel scrubber may be a better option to improve clay disintegration before screening.
Gold Recovery Equipment Configuration
The Zambia alluvial gold washing plant is designed with several gravity separation units. Each piece of equipment performs a different function in the recovery process.
1. Gold Sluice for Primary Recovery
After washing and screening, the slurry passes through a gold sluice. The sluice is used for primary gravity recovery and helps capture recoverable free gold and heavy mineral concentrate at an early stage.
2. Centrifugal Concentrator for Fine Gold Recovery
A centrifugal concentrator is used to further recover fine free gold and other high-density minerals from the concentrate or slurry stream. This equipment uses enhanced centrifugal force to improve the recovery of fine gold particles that may not be efficiently captured by a conventional sluice alone.
3. Shaking Table for Concentrate Upgrading
The shaking table is used as the final cleaning and upgrading stage. It separates the heavy mineral concentrate into gold-rich concentrate, middlings, and tailings. This makes the final gold concentrate easier to inspect, collect, and process in the next stage.
Why Choose a Mobile Gold Washing Plant?
The customer required a mobile gold washing plant because the alluvial ore body can be distributed across different working areas. A mobile configuration makes it easier to relocate the plant as mining progresses.
Compared with a fixed plant, a mobile alluvial gold washing plant can offer several practical advantages:
- Flexible relocation between mining areas
- Reduced civil construction requirements
- Faster installation and commissioning
- Compact equipment arrangement
- Suitable for remote placer gold mining sites
- Easier integration of washing, screening, and gravity separation equipment
The final plant configuration should always be determined according to ore characteristics, clay content, feed size, gold particle size, target capacity, water supply, and power conditions.
Dasen Solution for Zambia Alluvial Gold Processing
Dasen Mining provides equipment selection, mineral processing flow design, equipment manufacturing, installation guidance, and technical support for alluvial gold processing projects.
For a Zambia alluvial gold washing plant, our engineering team can recommend a suitable combination of:
- Feed hopper and vibrating feeder
- Trommel screen or rotary scrubber
- High-pressure washing system
- Gold sluice box
- Centrifugal concentrator
- Shaking table
- Water pump and pipelines
- Diesel generator, if required
- Mobile skid-mounted or trailer-mounted structure
Before finalizing the equipment configuration, we recommend providing ore photos, washability information, gold particle-size distribution, expected processing capacity, and project location details. This helps our engineers design a more suitable and cost-effective placer gold recovery solution.
