What Is Alluvial Tin Ore?

Alluvial tin ore is tin that has moved away from its original rock over many years by water and weather. It sits in river beds, old streams, and soft ground. Because it is already broken loose from hard rock, you do not need heavy crushing. This makes the processing cheaper and faster than hard rock tin mining.

But there is one problem: the tin is mixed with sticky clay, big stones, mud, and other heavy minerals like columbite, ilmenite, monazite, and zircon sand. To get a clean tin concentrate, you must wash away the clay, remove the big stones, and then separate each mineral by its weight and magnetic property.

How Dasen Designs a Tin Ore Processing Plant

Our Dasen team visited many sites in Nigeria, including Jos, Bauchi, Gombe, and Bisichi. At each site we did drilling work, studied the government data and paperwork, and tested the ore. Based on this real field work, we designed a general processing line that works well for most alluvial tin deposits.

Here is how the full alluvial tin ore processing plant works, step by step:

  1. Feeding (Hopper): The raw ore is loaded into a hopper. This feeds the material into the plant at a steady speed.
  2. Washing & Screening (Trommel Washer): This is our own special design. One part is a scrubber washer with blades that break the clay and free the ore. The other part is a screen that removes the big stones and keeps only material below 2–3mm.
  3. Gravity Separation (Spirals & Shaking Table): After washing, we use spiral chutes and a shaking table. These machines use water and gravity to catch the heavy minerals and throw away the light sand and waste.
  4. Drying: The heavy concentrate is dried under the sun. Dry material is needed for the next step.
  5. Dry Magnetic & Electric Separation: We use a three-roller magnetic separator and a three-disc electromagnetic separator. These machines split the minerals one by one — tin, columbite, ilmenite, zircon sand, and more — each at high grade.

The result is clean, separated, high-grade products instead of one cheap mixed pile. This is the difference between earning a small income and running a real, profitable tin business.
