Get 90%+ Gold Recovery with a Container Leaching Plant for Oxide Ore

Many small and mid-size gold mines in Uganda still use the old way, like simple crushing plus a mercury plate, to get gold from oxide rock ore. But the recovery rate is often low, and the gold loss is big. In this article, Dasen Mining will share a real case in Uganda and show you how a container type gold leaching plant can help you get more gold with less cost.

What Is Oxide Rock Gold Ore?

Oxide rock gold ore is the gold ore found in the top layer of the earth. The rock has been changed by air and water for a long time, so the gold inside is often free or only weakly locked. This kind of ore is easy to treat, and it works very well with cyanide leaching.

In Uganda, many gold sites have this kind of oxide ore. The gold grains are fine, and they do not stick tight to the rock. So with the right machines, the recovery rate can be much higher than using mercury.

Why Mercury Plate Is Not Enough

On many small sites in Uganda, miners crush the rock and wash it over a mercury plate. This way is cheap, but it has some big problems:

  • Low recovery rate. Mercury only catches big free gold. Fine gold will be lost with the waste.
  • Bad for health. Mercury is toxic. It hurts workers and the land.
  • No data. You do not know how much gold is really in your ore.

If your gold ore is free or weakly locked and can be treated by cyanide, a container type gold leaching plant is a much better choice.

What Is a Container Type Gold Leaching Plant?

A container type gold leaching plant is a full gold processing line built inside steel containers. You do not need to build big houses or a large factory. The plant comes ready, you just put it on the site, connect power and water, and start to work.

This plant fits miners who want:

  • Low processing cost
  • High recovery rate
  • Fast setup time
  • Easy to move to a new site

Main Parts of the Container Gold Leaching Plant

The plant has two main containers. Each one does a clear job.

Part 1: Crushing + Grinding Container

This container takes the raw gold rock and makes it into fine powder. Main machines inside:

Jaw crusher – breaks big rocks into small size.
Ball mill grinds the small rocks into fine powder, ready for leaching.
Classifier – sends the right size to the next step.

Part 2: Thickening + Leaching Container

This container pulls the gold out of the powder. Main steps inside:

Thickener – takes out extra water and makes the pulp thick.
Leaching tank – mixes the pulp with cyanide, so the gold melts into the liquid.
Active carbon adsorption – the carbon catches the gold from the liquid.

After this step, you will get active carbon loaded with gold.

How to Get Gold Out of the Loaded Carbon?

Once you have the gold loaded carbon, there are two ways to get the pure gold:

1. Manual way – burn the carbon and smelt the ash. This is simple but slow, and you may lose some gold.

2. Desorption and electrolysis plant – this is the pro way. The plant washes the gold off the carbon, then uses power to pull the gold out of the liquid. You get gold mud with high grade, ready to smelt into gold bar. The carbon can also be used again, which saves cost.

For miners who plan to run the plant for a long time, the desorption and electrolysis plant is the best choice.

Good Points of the Container Gold Leaching Plant

High recovery rate – often 90% or more for oxide gold ore.
Low cost – less building work, less labor, less power.
Quick to start – the plant is ready in the container, so setup is fast.
Easy to move – if you change the site, you just move the containers.
Safe – no mercury, better for workers and the land.
Small land use – fits mines with limited space.

Is This Plant Right for Your Gold Ore?

This plant works best when your gold ore matches these points:

  • Gold is free or weakly locked in the rock.
  • Ore can be treated well by cyanide leaching.
  • You want low cost and high recovery.
  • You need a plant that is easy to set up and easy to run.

If you are not sure about your ore, the first step is an ore test. Dasen Mining can help you test the ore and give you the right flow design.
