A recent project undertaken by one of our Ethiopian clients includes **quartz‑dominant rock gold with an average grade of about 5 ppm (≈ 5 g/t) — making it ideal for gravity separation followed by carbon‑in‑leach (CIL) processing.
Ore Characteristics and Site Overview
- Ore type: Quartz + greenstone belt altered rock
- Visible gold: Abundant — free granular gold observed after simple washing
- Gold content: ≈ 5 ppm (very good grade for leaching)
- Leaching suitability: Excellent — gold is easy to liberate and react with leaching reagents
At the customer’s site, visible free gold grains were observed after panning and washing, indicating both gravity separation and leaching will be effective for maximum recovery.
Production Target and Gold Plant Capacity
- Desired final gold output: ≈ 1.5 kg/day
- Estimated processing capacity for target output: ≈ 350 TPD
- Planned adjusted capacity: 400 TPD, considering Africa’s production environment and operational flexibility

Recommended Processing Flow for This Ore Type
For this rock gold ore with visible gold, the following combined process yields the best recovery:
- Crushing → Grinding — Liberate coarse and fine gold particles.
- Gravity Separation — Capture visible and free gold for early recovery using jigs or centrifugal concentrators.
- CIL (Carbon‑in‑Leach) Leaching — Recover fine gold remaining in the tailings.
- Activated Carbon Adsorption & Desorption — Extract dissolved gold from solution.
- Electrowinning & Smelting — Produce pure gold bullion.
